If you have tried the troubleshooting tips below and still can\u2019t get your hearing aids to work properly, please contact us to schedule an evaluation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Troubleshooting Your Hearing Aids<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your hearing aids aren\u2019t working properly, try the following techniques for a quick fix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If      there is no sound:<\/strong><ul><li>Make sure the battery is inserted       correctly.<\/li><li>Replace the battery if you suspect it is       dead or weak.<\/li><li>Remove excess earwax from earmold or       replace wax guard.<\/li><li>Check tubing for wax buildup or moisture;       clean with blower tool.<\/li><li>Make sure hearing aid isn\u2019t accidentally       set to telecoil mode.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If      you are experiencing feedback or whistling:<\/strong><ul><li>Remove and reinsert your hearing aids.<\/li><li>Turn down the volume.<\/li><li>Make sure there is nothing blocking or covering       your hearing aids.<\/li><li>Have your doctor check your ears for       excess wax and remove if necessary.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If      the sound is weak or distorted:<\/strong><ul><li>The battery may be dead or weak; replace       it.<\/li><li>Open the battery compartment and clean       the contacts with a dry cloth.<\/li><li>Clean the earmold or tubing with wax       removal tools; replace wax guard.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Can I Expect to Pay for a Hearing Aid\nRepair?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you report that the hearing aid is not working or malfunctioning, your audiologist will evaluate the problem and, many times, will be able to repair the hearing aid at the office during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If the hearing aid is under warranty, you will only need to pay the office visit charge.<\/li><li>If the hearing aid is out of warranty, you will need to pay the office fee and parts charge.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If the hearing aid needs to be sent to the manufacturer for repair the following will determine the cost of the repair:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If the hearing aids are still under warranty, they will be repaired by the manufacturer at no charge.<\/li><li>If the hearing aids are out of warranty, the cost of the repair depends on a number of factors, including extent of damage, length of repair warranty for the repaired aid, cost of parts and labor.<\/li><li>There will be an office visit fee for the initial assessment visit for the hearing aid problem.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If your hearing aids are still under warranty and were purchased from <span class=\"company-name \">Barrington Hearing Center<\/span>, repair costs will be nominal or free. If the warranty has expired, we\u2019ll need to assess the level of damage before providing you with an estimate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the cost of repairs, you might be better off investing in a new pair of hearing aids in certain cases.
